A classic Japanese horror film about a village that lies near an ancient and restless spirit known as Majin of the Mountain, DAIMAJIN is interesting variation on the giant monster concept that was literally taking over Japan in the 1960s. When a nefarious scofflaw murders the village leader in order to take his place, he becomes the object of Daimajin's wrath when the spirit is called upon by the slain leader's son. Majin, however, takes the form of a giant stone monster and doesn't seem to be too concerned with the plights of the humans that have called him out of his mountain, and soon begins demolishing the entire village. One of the many classic giant monster films that Japan produced during the'60s, the film was followed by two sequels.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Audio: Dolby Digital 2.0 - Japanese Subtitles - EnglishAdditional Release Material: Trailers - 1. Set on a plantation in Mississippi as Dabney Fairchild prepares for her wedding, Eudora Welty's 1945 novel portrays the daily dramas of a large and diverse Southern clan. It's a hot, sultry summer day in 1923, and as the family gathers for the ceremony, Welty provides not only a clear-eyed and humorous portrait of a cross-section of characters, but also a sharp-eyed look at the American South, in all its socially rigid, tradition-obsessed complexity. Most of all, she takes the reader into the landscape of the Mississippi delta, an area Welty knew intimately and wrote about all her life--but perhaps never so tellingly as in this early novel.
